Bulletproof coffee, water and a feast...

So today I'm back at work, get up at 5:30am, get ready and have a bulletproof coffee before work. The creamy taste is unusually nice.
Off to work at 6:30.
I have a berroca multivitamin when I get to work at 8am with a glass of water.
A small cup of coffee and I'm good until the evening.....
I get home around 7pm, reheat some beef casserole from the night before. 3 bowlfuls of vegetables, beef chunks and spices.
I'm full and don't need anything more to eat. But have a nagging want for something sugary. I'm going to drink a litre of water before bed to help wash the toxins out.
Feeling good and a lot less tired than before!

Weigh in....week 2

So today I've weighed myself using the same machine.

It's been 5 days since I started.

My thoughts on the first five days.

I feel great, no chocolate, Coke or sweets. I don't feel like I've lost much weight but feel less bloated. Like my skin has stopped swelling.

I use the machine at the leisure centre as this gives me my weight and also body fat % and mass.

My weight didn't change.
24.7 stone.

However my body fat has dropped by 2.1%. This is 3.1kg of body fat.

My initial thoughts were, is the machine wrong?

However my understanding is that on a  better diet with higher protein your body developed more muscle. Muscle weighs more fat. So is it possible I've lost fat and gained muscle??

Last minute change in plans....

Due to go out for dinner.... But it's cancelled!

Nothing defrosted and feeling seriously hungry!

So mince out of the freezer. Cooked with onions, peppers and carrots. Add some spices and herbs from the cupboard.

Throw some eggs in a pan for scrambled eggs.

Weirdly this tasted amazing! Scrambled eggs just seem to improve everything. And they are healthy.....

New approach!

I don't feel like I'm losing weight, I feel better in myself but think I'm consuming too many fruits and other items. So today!

1 bulletproof coffee in the morning
1 egg and bacon salad for lunch
1 steak and vegetables for dinner.

This should give me what I need throughout the day.

I also have two apples to snack on after my meals.

Let's see how this goes???

Paprika Belly Pork with cauliflower, broccoli and red cabbage

Best meal ever!
I put the pork in the roasting tray, fat side up. A small amount of coconut oil and some paprika, salt and pepper. Roasted on high for 20 mins then turned down. When I turned it down I added a half chopped red onion.

Par boil the veggies so they have a bite still.

Then serve! The Pork was fantastic. The flavour with paprika just melted in your mouth.

The fresh veg was nice and tasty. I loved every mouthful!

Will definitely do this again!!

I've just failed!!!!

5 single packs of Kettle chips and I'm failed for the day!

Lesson learnt!

DO NOT BUY MULTIPACKS!

Day without fruit juices....

So today I decided to stop drinking the fruit juices that I previously been downing everyday.

Feeling really low on energy, even after my butter coffee and bacon/egg salad.

I think after a couple of days of no fruit juice I will feel better.

Lots of water, clean food.

Looking forward to my pork and vegetables later. Hopefully this will help me get through.

My daily breakfast.... Bacon and egg salad!

So, the latest trend appears to be green smoothies. Everyone swears by them.

I can't stomach the green sludge! So instead I'm going to eat it!

I big green salad made from spinach, kale, lettuce, cucumber, pepper, tomatoes, avocado, boiled eggs and bacon bits. Sprinkle with some chopped up nuts and salt and pepper.

Now that to me has protein, greens, fats and essential oils.

Add this to my butter coffee and I think I'm onto a winner. Now the great thing about this it can be prepared and stored so you don't have waste time in the morning getting ready.

I will try it later and see....

Coffee with butter!!

Ok, so this morning I've had my first ever coffee with butter. I've seen it being done by Shaun T on a video with Abel James. I have to say..... I LIKE it! It's got a smooth creamy texture and looks fantastic. I'm not normally a big coffee drinker but I think I could get used to this!

Get a good quality coffee, blend with a tablespoon of butter and serve! It should come out frothy not gloopy!

End of day 4...

I think I am consuming too much fruit juice and fruit bars.

I don't feel like I am losing weight or getting healthier. I think my sugar intake from fruit juice is too high.

Tomorrow I am going to replace my juices with water and only consume fruit after my meals. I will be attempting to eat more vegetables especially greens.

Hopefully this will help my body adjust to fat burning instead of sugar...

Slow cooking recipe

So i put some beef chunks in with pepper, Piri Piri and some olive oil. A bit of water and loads of veggies on top. I used strong veg like carrots. Sweet potato, leek etc so they wouldn't break up in the pot.

5 hours later on high and it's cooked. It's a bit watery so next time I will only put a dash of water in the pot but the beef is amazing. If I was putting this on in the morning before work then i would use the low setting otherwise it would be really over cooked.

But a good first try and something I will teach myself more over the coming weeks. I think a chicken curry in thus would be amazing.

Day 4.... Slow cooking and clearing up!

Morning all,
Today it's slow cooker day. I will be cooking some beef chunks in the slow cooker with various veggies and hope my kids like it.... We will see.
I do also have a overwhelming urge to clear out some of the crap from the rest of my life. Starting with my flat. I'm going to have a massive clear out of junk, rubbishy and sell anything I don't need. How can I hope to be healthy without looking at my life as a whole?

Home-made burgers with Sweet potato chips and salad

Recipe 1 -Wild Diet burgers, spicy sweet potato chips and salad.

Hand full of button mushrooms, half a red onion, slug of olive oil, Piri Piri spices all blended up.

Add to minced beef.

The mixture needs to be not too runny, otherwise the burger will fall apart. Grill to seal meat and the finish in the oven.

Wash and slice the sweet potato into slices and roast in the oven.

My first attempt was too runny, the burgers fell apart but tastes great!

I'm loving cooking my food, it's great to create something fresh.

Headaches from cravings....

Day 2 was the worst for headaches. I couldn't move without my head feeling like it was going to explode. I have no doubt that it was the sugar and caffeine from chocolate and Coke that making my head hurt. I decided at that point to allow myself fruit juices and Kettle Chips. I know it's not paleo and against the rules. But I need to live. So one day at a time. Once I get to the weekend I will weigh myself again. Then after than no fruit juices. Just homemade smoothies, plain water and fruit infused water. One step at a time. This is a lifestyle I'm choosing not a restriction of foods. I want to be healthy and happy and that's journey not a two day race.

My tips for headaches...
They will come so prepare for them. Get some headache tablets, drink lots of water and eat! Always remember to eat your vegetables and fruits. This will help you get through.

Day 3 on the "Wild Diet"

Evening all, I'm starting this blog so that I can keep a record of my meals and thoughts whilst on the Wild Diet. The Wild Diet is a diet published by Abel James "The fat burning man". I've listened to his Podcasts for quite a while and whilst very interested I never really put it into action. I recently watched "my diet is better than yours" on ABC or YouTube and found his progress with Kurt to be very inspiring. So I've started my "Wild" diet. I'm now on day 3. I think to appreciate where I'm coming from you need to know where I start. I'm a 35 year old guy in Milton Keynes. I have two kids and an office job. I do very little exercise. My diet is terrible. I survive on pre-packaged sandwiches and bottles of Coke and Pepsi. I buy whatever I want on the way home which is usually pizza or something I can just chuck in the oven. However I also normally buy another sandwich, crisps, chocolate etc to keep me going on the way home. Pathetic I know.... I weighed myself on the 9th Feb...... 24st 7lbs or 155.9kg BMI 42.3 Body Fat 41.4% Body Fat Mass 64.5kg I am ashamed I've let it get this bad. I actually started my diet on the 8th. I've quit Coke and pre-made foods. My only cheats are fruit juices, Kettle chips and Nakd bars. I know that these three items all have their own reasons for being against the Wild Diet. But it's a step by step process. I've bought a slow cooker to help me prepare foods for when I get home. This will hopefully make me focus throughout the day on the nice meal I come home to. I am going to weigh myself every weekend and I hope to see the Body Fat % go down each week. I am also going to write in this blog everyday to write down how I feel and what I have found hard or achieved.
